Eric Tapout's TOP 100 post 1990 PUNK cd's
                   PART II
                   #50-#1
50 Rocket From The Crypt - "scream dracula scream"
Good, fun album. It's catchy punk rock and roll garage style with a horn
section. This '90s album from one of the original Warped Tour headliners
was re-released by Interscope in 2005. Perhaps a main influence of The
Hives and Vines.
49 Screeching Weasel - "Bark Like A Dog"
The pop punk masters' 1996 release of classics including "cool
kids" , "get off my back", and "first day of summer". Another catchy
fun album.

The UK oi punk veterans. Not their finest, but still killer.
47  The Business: "The Whole Truth"
Catch oi punk rock with a political edge but without the
preaching.

One of NOFX's finer albums. Fast, sarcastic, and snotty.

Pre "smash" release featured the songs "kick him when
he's down", "session", and "dirty magic".

1997 release from the veteran oi punks. Catchy fast paced
album including covers of "the devil went down to Georgia"
and "I'm gonna be 500 miles"..
43  The Unseen -"singles collection"
Boston's finest catchy street punk bands. Sing alongs, speed, and
angst.
41 Down By Law - "all scratched up"
Dave Smalley's Down By Law has had a stack of great records, this one
stands out as my favorite. Includes the songs "gruesome gary" and
"independence day" amongst others.
42 Weston - "got beat up"
Heartfelt emotional pop punk with clear vocals, harmonies,
and contagious riffs to back it up..
40 Less Than Jake - "pezcore"
LTJ's first full length that got re released a decade later. '90s
skka punk at its finest.
39 Less Than Jake - "losing streak"
LTJ's second and in my opinion their best full length.
37 Choking Victim - "no Gods, no managers"
1999 full length release from the NYC ska charged squatter
punk band. Fast and catchy.

The final album from arguably the greatest punk rock
band of all time. Includes a cover of Tom Waits' "I don't
want to grow up".

Class"
1996 release on Fat Wreckords that combines elements of Clash

The Pittsburgh punks serve up one of the best street punk
albums in recent times
33  From First To Last- "dear diary, my teen
angst has a body count"

if your'e into that style.
34  Blanks 77 - "killer blanks"
Catch street punk packed with sing alongs.

Blink's debut full length featuring "carousel" and "m&m's". Faster
and edgier than the radio Blink.

3 piece poppish punk band from Richmond VA.
Contagious melodies, excellent lyrics, and the occasional
breakdown and sing along.

enemies and irritate people"
Mike Dirnt of Green Day on bass jumps into the Weasel
pop punk formula.

1990 release from the Lookout! pop punk masters.
25  Social Distortion - "somewhere between
heaven and hell"
Like NOFX, Social D has that sound you either love or hate.
This album packs their patent rock influenced punk sound
with Mike Ness' catchy heart felt vocals. Includes "cold
feelings" and "bad luck".
26  NOFX - "white trash...."
NOFX has that distinctive style that you either love or
hate. This is in my opinion the veteran band's best.
24 D Generation - "no lunch"
Top to bottom great album from the NYC based punks who
have a bit of a NY Dolls influence. Includes "no way out",
"capitol offender" , and "she stands there". Though this album
did receive some MTV play, they never got the attention they
deserved.
23 Green Day - "dookie"
1994 release on Warner Brothers that for better or worse helped
launch punk into the mainstream '90s. Includes "basketcase",
"longview", and "when I come around" amongst others.
21 Green Day - "kerplunk"
My opinion of Green Day's finest. One thing I've always
liked about Green Day was when you hear one of their
songs you would know right away which album it was from
as each album had its own sound as opposed to bands
who's albums all sound the same.
22 Green Day - "39 Smooth"
Green Day's first full length cd. Classic garage pop punk style..
20 The Misfits - "American Psycho"
First Misfits album without Glenn Danzig. Michale Graves
assumes vocal duties and does a killer job. Overall the
music does not sound at all like The Misfits of old and has
more of a harder edge.
19 The Descendents - "everything sucks"
After a long hiatus, the veterans (1978) are back with one
of their better releases to date. Catchy pop punk from the
orginaters  that's easy to get into.

Bouncing Souls' third official third length album. Includes the
songs "kate is great", "serenity", and "bullying the juke box".

Lars). Fast, raw, and catchy.

guest", "joe lies", "dead beats"... they're all classics..
15 .Ann Beretta - "the other side of the coin"
Before Dashboard Confessional's popular MTV unplugged release, this pop
punk band served up a collection of their tunes played acoustic.
13 Dag Nasty - "4 on the floor"
pre Down By Law post Descendents Dave Smalley on vocals.
Catchy, lo fi, heartfelt poppy punk rock at its best. Fans of post
hardcore stuff would probably enjoy this a lot.
14 Stiff Little Fingers - "guitar and drum"
The Clash style punk rock veterans are back, this time with a
release that takes a more 'post punk' approach. Not heavy, not
loud, but honest, heart felt, and catchy.
11 Taking Back Sunday - "where you want to be"
The band's third official release that debuted at #2 on Billboard and
launched these guys into the mainstream. Catchy emo based punk
including the songs "I know you know" and "a decade under the
influence"
12 Plow United -"plow united"
Catchy garage style poppy punk packed with emotion without
whining or crazy distortion. One of punk rock's best kept secrets.
9 Bad Religion - "Stranger Than Fiction"
Atlantic Records issued Bad Religion disc full of killer guitar
lines, intelligent lyrics with good lyrical patterns, and
insanely good harmonized vocals. Includes a remake of "21st
Digital Boy", "Infected", and "Better Off Dead".
10 Suicide Machines - "destruction by definition"
Catchy catchy catchy. Ska core meets melodic punk with a
hardcore edge with emotional lyrics and occasional humor.
8 Senses Fail - "let it enfold you"
This NJ based band is young and obscenely good. They mix
the screamo style with catchy poppy punk for a great mix.
Expect more big things from these guys.
7  Rancid- "out  come the wolves"
Rancid's third release which helped launch the mainstream
punk invasion of 1994. Catch melodic punk at its best with the
occasional reggae/ska influence thrown in the mix. Includes
the songs "ruby soho", "roots radicals", and "time bomb".
5  Taking Back Sunday "tell all your friends"
The Long Island band's second non demo release. More on the emo
side of punk, but packed top to bottom with catchy heartfelt tunes
including "cute with the e" and "you know how I do"
6 Screeching Weasel - "anthem for a new
tomorrow"
Arguably the greatest pop punk release ever. Top to bottom,
flawless.

Rancid's second full length and first as a four piece with Lars. Clash style
dual vocal attack, insanely good bass lines, sing alongs and harmonies.
Includes "nihilism", "radio", and "salvation". This was the album that got
these guys MTV play and a ton of exposure.
3 Oxymoron - "Fuck The Nineties, Here's Our Noize"
What can you really say about this? In your face oi style punk rock
that's arguably the catchiest of its kind. Raspy vocals with sing alongs
and contagious harmonies.
2 The Bouncing Souls - "maniacal laughter"
In my opinion this is the NJ band's best release. Clear heart felt
vocals, catchy singalongs, great harmonies. Includes the songs
"Lamar Vannoy", "Quick Check Girl", and "Here We Go".
Flawless album that definitely gives me a good nostalgic
feeling while listening to. This band has proven they can do no
wrong.
1 .Face To Face - "dont'  turn away"
Top to bottom this is a killer album. Originally released on Dr
Strange Records than re-released the following year on Fat
Wreckords. This band serves up heart felt lyrics, breakdowns, and
contagious sing alongs that will leave you wanting more.
